Sometimes in Whalley the line between life and death is so faint you can’t see it until you trip over it. Life at the mission is hard some days, hilarious some days, and beautiful others.

"I do not understand how you have such an amazing place here. I know you don't get near the funding the government place a block away gets, but your place runs smoothly with care and compassion, while the other place is in chaos and danger. This Place is perplexing”

Besides raising four little rambunctious kids, SUMS has been my greatest challenge and my greatest joy.

"You need to give people something to believe in, because without belief there's just a great big hole to fill."

He pointed as I ran out the gate and to the left. I spotted the cart with “SUMS” scrawled down the side in big pink letters, loaded with three pallets and being pushed across King George by a young man. He was running.

Last month I told a story about my ability to bring peace to a situation. Well, before anyone thinks that I move around SUMS flawlessly bringing peace to all, I have a new story to tell you.

Most days at the mission can get a little hairy and today was no exception.
