Surrey Urban Mission Society

Surrey Urban Mission Society (SUMS) is a Christian mission located in Surrey, BC. SUMS began as a community kitchen in 1995, and since then our services have expanded to include multiple shelters, a hygiene unit for people experiencing unsheltered homelessness, and one supportive housing development, all located in the City Centre area of Surrey.

Together, we are building a bridge to hope for the most vulnerable and marginalized in our community.

Support the Bridge to Hope

Your generous contribution galvanizes our mission of building a Bridge to Hope. It symbolizes our shared commitment to strengthening our community by offering Shelter, Food, and Casework services to those in need. Together, we can transform the lives of the vulnerable and marginalized members of our community by offering a hand up, not a hand out.

“Being one of the biggest cities in Western Canada does not come without its challenges. Having the privilege to work alongside an amazing collection of Staff, Volunteers, and Donors is a blessing. The work that we do in the community lends itself to providing a hand up, not a handout, living the gift of hospitality to everyone in need every day.”

- Jack O’Halloran, CEO

“But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

— 1 John 3:17-18
